On January 20th 2000
the FCC voted in favor of creating a Low-Power FM radio service! It was to
be non-commercial educational service with two tiers: 10 watts and 100 watts. Over
1200 groups have applied for licenses!
Some people don't want LPFM to happen, though, and moved to kill it, which led to
Congress severely restricting LPFM by attaching a rider to an appropriations
bill, which was signed by former President Clinton.
Read the LPFM page for some basic information
regarding Low Power radio and then contact your elected officials and voice your
opinion.
